misinformation

Sorry, [info]arwenoid, I was wrong. Depo Provera is still available in Canada - however Health Canada has issued a statement warning users potential issues with significant and irreversible (!) loss of bone density.

Here's a PDF with more info.

For anyone on my F-list using Depo Provera, please please please make sure you're getting adequate calcium and vitamin D and get plenty of exercise.

I'm personally appalled this product is still available on the market.

My doctor has been warning me about this for a couple years now. I've been taking tons of calcium supplements as a result. Because of my cholesterol/trig issue, Depo is the ONLY birth control method available to me (aside from condoms and that sort of thing), so I choose to stick with it.

glad you're taking care with calcium extras.

What about IUDs? There's copper and hormonal ones available now, the hormonal ones have the advantage of not increasing (and sometimes decreasing) periods.

bone density sucks, but the demonic posession was FAR more dangerous for me. Bone density will only affect me negatively over a long period of time -- I had two suicide attempts within 6 months of going on Depo. :)

meh. stupid depo.

yeah, they never give enough info about the stupid demonic possession, and it can be really annoying. Glad you're depo-free now.

I'm still miffed that I didn't know about SSRIs causing demonic possession in bipolar marmots. *kicks demonic possession*

Some SSRIs are worse than others for the whole possession issue. Celexa seems to make me weepy when I am PMSing; Prozac turned me into a raving bitch 97.5% of the time, and don't even get me started on the mood swings!!
